Build A Strong Business Power Team
They always say that a man is only as strong as the people around him, and that couldn’t be closer to the truth. Everyone has a power team. It could be a strong family bond, or a handful of strong friendships, but either way, it is a power team of some sorts. Although, the power team that I am referring too is the one between one professional to another in your business power team.
As an investor, or a regular homeowner for that matter, you must have a power team assembled that you can call upon at any time to take care of certain situations. This power team can include anyone with specialties pertaining to your particular business. I am a real estate investor, so my power team consist of the following vital players in my success: A broker, lender, seller, buyer, appraiser, insurance agent, grant money contacts, inspector, title company, accountant, attorney, handy man, banker, tenants. These are just a few of my contacts, but I have built a strong relationship with them all, as if they were my own family members.
How do I do that? Once I find a person that does a particular trade, I put them in my phone with their name, and what they specialize in. For example, if I were to meet a guy named Scott, who does homeowners insurance, I would put him in my phone as, “Homeowners Insurance, Scott Harold”. I do this because instead a spending the time finding names in my phone, I scroll down to whatever it is I am in need for, and there is the contact. What I also do is if there is no major work to be done on any of my properties, I still try to call them twice a month, just to make sure they are doing ok, and that they know I haven’t forgotten about them. A simple phone call goes a long way with people, as it keeps them aware that you haven’t forgotten about them, as you shouldn’t!
Two things you must remember when managing a power team. One, they work for you. Never let anyone on your power team talk down to you. Although they are the specialists in their area of work, at the end of the day, you gave them the work, and you sign the checks. Two, always remember that without them, you would have more worry and tasks to deal with.
As I stated earlier, you are only as strong as those around you. Always know that if this person weren’t in your life, you would be stuck wasting your precious hours trying to do the tasks at hand, instead of them. They are allowing you to forget about a problem and move on to what you are good at, whether it is getting the deals, negotiating, obtain investors, whatever it may be. Remembering this also helps in the delegating process as well, as when you give out work, it always is more sincere, and full of gratitude, rather than “dictator like”, and you will also begin to notice that the job gets done faster, cheaper, and more perfect in every detail.
I love investing in real estate because of my income potential, but the most important aspect of all of this is the fact that we are putting families into homes, and then helping them through the buying process for them to become the actual homeowner. Always use the pay-it-forward program in everything that you do, and the money will always come!

My name is Mike Fish and I am the founder of Sound Life Education. I have been investing in real estate for 12 years and I have been helping people do the same for just as long. Over this period of time, I came across many individuals and families that were interested in owning their own homes but they weren’t sure how to make that happen for themselves. Helping people has always been important to me so when I saw this road block happening time and time again, I made it my personal goal to collect the information those people needed and help them use that information to get into their new home.
